This incredible informative Lymphedema website evolved from the discussion boards at breastcancer.org due to the efforts of Dr. Nudelman and several colleagues . The mission of this website is to insure that all women and men undergoing breast cancer surgery are fully informed about the risks of lymphedema, the warning signs of lymphedema, and the appropriate risk reduction practices that should be taken to possibly prevent lymphedema, and to have it properly diagnosed and treated it in its early, reversible stages. And that no breast cancer survivor has a "missed diagnosis" or lack of information of risk reductions, and has their lymphedema turn into Stage 2 or 3. This resource is a critical reference source for any health care professional wanting to learn more about Lymphedema.

Nudelman, M.D.
Editorial Board and Director of Step Up Speak Out
Dr. Nudelman is a Board Certified family medicine physician who combines clinical work with medical student education, and is a clinical assistant professor of family medicine at Brown University. She received her MD from University of Pittsburgh and her BA from University of Michigan, and did her residency in Family Medicine at Brown University. Her interest in lymphedema stems from personal experience and her subsequent discovery of widespread lack of knowledge of both the condition of lymphedema and its treatment, and her inability to discover a physician who was capable of or interested in managing the condition. Her goal is to provide education and information about lymphedema and to work to encourage physicians to manage the condition in their patients. She is trained as a CLT (certified lymphedema therapist), and sits on the board of directors of the Lymphology Association of America. She has written textbook chapters and articles on lymphedema, and lectures on the subject. She is a strong advocate for Massage Therapists and a supporter of ACOM. Look for Dr. Nudelman’s webinar in 2015.
This reference site is mandatory for every health care professional that requires additional information about Lymphedema.

Polly Jiacovelli LMT, CLT-LANA
Certified Dr. Vodder MLD/CDT Therapist
http://www.pollyjiacovelli.com/
Polly Jiacovelli has been a Manual Lymph Drainage practitioner for over twenty years.
Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is the third most prescribed physical therapy in Europe, with extensive research studies over seven decades supporting the usage of MLD in treating an ever increasing number of medical conditions.
MLD affects the parasympathetic nervous system through precise and rhythmic hand movements. MLD helps drain and detox body tissue, hasten post surgical healing, support and enhance the immune system and alleviate pain.
A licensed massage therapist in New York and Rhode Island since 1988, Polly began lymphedema training in New York in the early 1990s.
She had the privilege to train with Dr. Robert Lerner and Guenter Klose who established one of the nation’s first lymphedema clinics – Lymphedema Services in New York City. At this unique clinic they practiced the gold standard care for lymphedema, Complete Decongestive Therapy or CDT. Patients were treated with Manual Lymph Drainage, compression therapy, remedial exercises and skin care. Patients were seen twice a day, five days a week for an average of four weeks. Polly worked with Dr. Lerner and Guenter Klose for six years before starting her own private practice in 1997.
She became interested in the beauty industry and worked performing massage and Manual Lymph Drainage for Frédéric Fekkai at Beauté de Provence. At this time she continued her private practice in New York City and worked with plastic surgery patients under Dr. Michelle Copeland. While working with Dr. Copeland, Polly treated a variety of pre and post-surgical patients.
Interested in pursuing more Manual Lymph Drainage training, she became certified with the original Dr. Vodder School where she continues to expand her knowledge with advanced training and recertification every two years.
The Dr. Vodder School is presided over by the esteemed professor Hildegard Wittlinger who was entrusted to carry on this amazing technique by Dr. Emil Vodder himself. Professor Whittlinger along with Robert Harris and a select group of teachers have carried on and advanced this technique to treat more than 60 different conditions.
The method he [Dr. Emil Vodder] created is simple but brilliant, difficult to learn but unique in its effect.
